One of the first things i asked when i found out i had cancer was "will i loose my hair?" You would think i would have asked more important things like is it terminal, will i die, whats the treatment plan...something more valid and important, but that's how important my hair is to me. Why? i guess because the change is obvious, even if you don't feel sick without hair you look it. Its a physical sign that i have cancer!
Well today i have officially started my follicle freak-out, i woke up with hair on my pillow, when i ran my fingers through my hair strands would just fall out. Washing it was the worst, it was everywhere all over me, the tub and now its all wet and sticky and not easy to clean up. What a mess! So instead of letting it fall out at its own leasure i am going to shave it sometime this week! Quick and painless...i found this quote and i love it..
"women are not the sum of their body parts. With or without hair, breasts or reproductive organs we are spiritually whole and perfect."

Thinking of you, May May. You'll still look gorgeous without the hair. xoxo
ReplyDeleteDear Mary,
ReplyDeleteThe wigs are on the way. Check your email for a website called Planet Buff. Buffs are a seamless tube of microfiber fabric that can be worn many different ways. comfortable, easy and stylish! one of my friends swears by them.
Here is a verse that may help you keep some perspective on this latest chapter of your life:
What Cancer Cannot Do!
It cannot cripple
Love,
It cannot shatter
Faith,
It cannot corrode
Hope,
It cannot destroy
Peace,
It cannot kill
Friendship,
It cannot suppress
Memories,
It cannot silence
Courage,
It cannot steal
Eternal Life,
It cannot conquer
The Spirit!
You are in my thoughts and prayers,
Aunt Lynn
Mary we are thankful that your parents are so proactive in your health care. They were awesome to take you right to the ER when that temp appeared last week. You are awesome for being so willing to let others help in this battle that you are engaged in. These days and times are wonderful. There are so many medical break throughs that are occuring constantly! There are so many ways that people can keep in contact! There are so many different looks as options. That no hair look is quite popular...sometimes even as a choice! Be proud of yourself, there are many people through out this world that face the cancer challenge and come out so much stronger as a result. We can see this taking place in you even now. Our thoughts and prayers are always with you, Tim, and your family.
